{"id":157770,"date":"2024-10-07T15:42:53","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T19:42:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indianatech.edu\/?post_type=news&#038;p=157770"},"modified":"2024-10-18T09:05:31","modified_gmt":"2024-10-18T13:05:31","slug":"indiana-techs-shrm-chapter-earns-prestigious-honor","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.indianatech.edu\/news\/indiana-techs-shrm-chapter-earns-prestigious-honor\/","title":{"rendered":"Indiana Tech\u2019s SHRM chapter earns prestigious honor"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world\u2019s largest HR professional society representing 340,000 members in 180 countries, honored Indiana Tech\u2019s SHRM student chapter with a 2023-24 Superior Merit Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The annual Superior Merit Award program recognizes chapters for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its student chapter members. It began in 1972 to encourage student chapters to require ongoing excellence in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Student chapter requirements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chapter operations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chapter programming and professional development of members<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support of the human resource profession<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SHRM engagement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis award is a tremendous accomplishment for Indiana Tech, the College of Business and our human resource program,\u201d said Dr. Angie Fincannon, dean of the university\u2019s College of Business. \u201cThe ongoing hard work of integrating SHRM principles in our HR programming is a point of distinction and it reinforces our College of Business\u2019 vision of preparing and producing the top business graduates in northeast Indiana and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indiana Tech\u2019s student SHRM chapter, which is the largest student organization on campus, has earned a Superior Merit Award every year since 1998. The university&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/academics.indianatech.edu\/programs\/ba-human-resources\/\">HR degree program<\/a> has an outstanding reputation for cultivating exceptional human resource professionals and launching successful careers. It has helped more than 500 Indiana Tech students pass the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) exam\u2014a competency-based certification exam that measures one\u2019s ability to apply HR principles to real-life situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-157770","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.2 -
