{"id":101682,"date":"2016-03-07T20:02:26","date_gmt":"2016-03-08T01:02:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.indianatech.edu\/?post_type=news&#038;p=101682"},"modified":"2016-03-07T20:09:47","modified_gmt":"2016-03-08T01:09:47","slug":"mens-tf-team-wins-third-straight-indoor-national-title","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.indianatech.edu\/news\/mens-tf-team-wins-third-straight-indoor-national-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Men&#8217;s T &amp; F team highlights a weekend of national championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Indiana Tech men&#8217;s indoor track and field team defended its indoor title for a third straight year as it scored 105 points to win the NAIA Indoor Championships Saturday in Johnson City, Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>Head coach <strong>Doug Edgar<\/strong> was named Coach of the Year after guiding his team to its third title in a row \u2013 the first team to three-peat since Azusa Pacific (California) won four in a row from 2007-10.<\/p>\n<p><strong>John Hester<\/strong> got Tech its first champion of the meet as he captured the 600-meter title with a time of 1:18.36. <strong>Harris Edwards III<\/strong> won the 200-meter title with a time of 21.09. The 4&#215;400-meter relay team of <strong>Hester, John Broaden<\/strong>, <strong>DeShawn Woods<\/strong> and <strong>Edwards III<\/strong> concluded the championships with a first-place and school-record time of 3:09.41.<\/p>\n<p>On the ladies&#8217; side, <strong>Sarah Dunmore<\/strong> won a national championship by clinching the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.40. As a team, Indiana Tech&#8217;s women&#8217;s team finished third.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile in Topeka, Kansas: <strong>Mitch Pawlak<\/strong> pinned eighth-ranked Hugo Perez of Midland at 4:11 to win an NAIA National Championship in the 125-pound weight class \u2013 the first-ever individual title in program history.<\/p>\n<p>As a team, Indiana Tech finished with 80.5 points for its best finish in program history.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-101682","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.2 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Men&#039;s T &amp;
