{"id":134626,"date":"2017-06-23T17:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-06-23T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indianatech.edu\/?post_type=news&#038;p=134626"},"modified":"2017-07-18T16:14:37","modified_gmt":"2017-07-18T20:14:37","slug":"indiana-tech-president-dr-arthur-snyder-receives-sagamore-wabash","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.indianatech.edu\/news\/indiana-tech-president-dr-arthur-snyder-receives-sagamore-wabash\/","title":{"rendered":"Indiana Tech president Dr. Arthur Snyder receives Sagamore of the Wabash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Retiring Indiana Tech President Dr. Arthur Snyder was presented with a Sagamore of the Wabash honor on Friday, June 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, in a surprise presentation at the Andorfer Commons building of the Indiana Tech main campus.\u00a0 The chair of Indiana Tech\u2019s Board of Trustees, Janet Chrzan, presented Dr. Snyder with the award on behalf of Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb.<\/p>\n<p>The Sagamore of the Wabash is among the highest civilian honors bestowed by Indiana governors. Among those who have received Sagamores have been astronauts, presidents, ambassadors, artists, musicians, politicians and citizens who have contributed greatly to Indiana\u2019s unique Hoosier heritage. Dr. Snyder, who will retire June 30<sup>th<\/sup> after 14 years as Indiana Tech\u2019s president, is being recognized for his military service in the Vietnam conflict; his contributions toward revitalizing Fort Wayne\u2019s East Central neighborhood; and his leadership in sparking unprecedented academic and enrollment growth at the university.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1930 as Indiana Technical College, today Indiana Tech serves nearly 10,000 students from its main campus in Fort Wayne; at locations around Indiana, Kentucky, Chicago and Detroit; and online. Associate, bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees are offered. Its colleges and schools include the College of Business; College of Engineering; School of Computer Sciences; College of General Studies; the School of Education; College of Professional Studies; and the Center for Criminal Justice.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana Tech is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-134626","news","type-news","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.2 -
